Back to School Pencil Banner with Kunin Felt
Back to School time is fast approaching (we always go back early in August here in SW Florida) and I have created this Back to School Pencil Banner so all of my crafty teacher friends can “WELCOME” their students back to class in style! Easy to create in just about an hour with Kunin Felt and my FREE Patterns.

Number two pencils always make me think of this quote from the movie You've Got Mail “Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address” -Joe Fox

Here's what you will need to make a Pencil Banner from Felt:
- Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ craft cuts 9″ x 12″ in Black (1); Silver Gray (1); Sandstone (1); Candy Pink (1) and Gold (3)
- Varsity Block Letters, self-adhesive 3” tall in Black – WELCOME
- Beacon Adhesives Felt Glue
- Ranger Ink Stickles™ Glitter Glue in Silver
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors – I love these non-stick ones from Westcott
- Aquarellable Pencils by Stabilo – black and white
- Ribbon – White Twill Tape (48”)
- Cardstock – Neenah is my favorite brand
Here's how to make a Felt Pencil Banner:
STEP ONE
Download BACK TO SCHOOL PENCIL BANNER PATTERNS HERE, print on cardstock and then cut out.
STEP TWO
Trace each pattern shape seven (7) times onto light felt with Black Aquarellable pencil and onto dark felt with White Aquarellable pencil. The Pencil Bases onto Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ Gold; Pencil Erasers onto Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ Candy Pink; Eraser Cuffs onto Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ Silver Gray; Pencil Point Large onto Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ Sandstone and Pencil Point Small onto Kunin™ ClassicFelt™ Black. Cut out all shapes with scissors.

STEP THREE
Assemble pencils with Beacon Felt Glue. Attach Pencil Point Small to Pencil Point Large. Adhere Pencil Eraser to Pencil Base, overlapping 1”. Attach Pencil Cuff to the edge of Pencil Eraser. Flip over and attach Pencil Point Large to the wavy edge of Pencil Base and then let the glue dry.

STEP FOUR
Peel back liner paper and then attach letters to the center of each pencil spelling out WELCOME.

STEP FIVE
Attach ribbon to the back of each pencil, leaving 12” at each end and 1” in between each pencil. Let dry.

STEP SIX
Accent Pencil Cuff with lines and circles of silver glitter glue, as outlined in the photo. Let dry.

This Back to School Pencil Banner went together in just under an hour, so it is quick and easy to create in an evening or afternoon. Change up the message to incorporate the Teacher’s name, School name (and colors) or just to say WELCOME BACK! The possibilities are endless!

I hope you will use my project as a jumping-off point to showcase your Kunin Creativity and create some classroom decor! Felt is an easy, versatile, and forgiving medium that allows you to create affordable but trendy projects whether you are a beginner or an expert crafter!
